We are currently looking for a Senior Structural Vibration Engineer to join our Structural Integrity business based in South Melbourne .

The role will lead to technical leadership and contribution to enabling and growing a capability with application locally and internationally through QinetiQ’s global network.

The Senior Structural Vibration Engineer will be responsible for:
Assessment of the mechanical behaviour and structural integrity of safety critical systems and hardware, with a specific focus on vibration and structural dynamics in the areas of aerospace and weapon structural integrity.
Conduct of detailed aerospace analyses and assessments to understand the degradation and behaviour of metallic and/or composite aircraft/weapons/other structures.
Development of appropriate recommendations for consideration by our customers
Preparation and/or review of QinetiQ’s and/or client technical deliverables
Active participation in project technical meetings and discussions
Application of knowledge of the organisation, processes and customers to improve the quality of tasks performed.
Working towards broadening the scope of his/her Technical Authority and competency portfolio (where relevant to the role), including attainment of higher level Technical Authority.
Provision of support and mentoring to junior engineers within the team
To be successful in the role of Senior Structural Vibration Engineer you will need to bring with you:
A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace engineering or a Mechanical engineering degree
At least 10 years’ industry experience with relevant experience in the technical aspects of vibration, structural dynamics and fatigue including the use of MATLAB and/or Python
Ability to hold and exercise technical authority (review or approval) and/or technical leadership responsibilities in some form of technical management system
Experience in delivering engineering activities to assess the mechanical behaviour and structural integrity of safety critical systems and hardware with a specific focus on vibration and structural dynamics
Applied experience gained from the aviation sector, Defence AIR/LAND/SEA domains or a related vibration/acoustic field
In-depth knowledge of Structural dynamics and vibration first principles, including concepts like stiffness, damping, resonance, forcing, frequency dependent behaviour etc.
Experience with MIL-STD-810 and/or DEF-STAN-0035
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate at all levels.
Experience with managing and/or leading engineering projects
Guided weapons experience will be highly regarded
