Our job is to further integrate the transport network and improve the delivery of services to Victorians for simpler, quicker and safer journeys that connect people and places and support Victoria's prosperity and liveability.We are excited to offer this opportunity for you to become part of the Department that delivers more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.Senior Mechanical EngineerAnnual Salary Range: $103,920 - $125,735 per annum plus superannuationTenure: Fixed Term (3 years)Employment Type: Full Time (Flexibility may be available)Usual Work Location: 567 Collins Street/HybridAbout the TeamThe Rolling Stock Development Division is focused on the development and growth of the Victorian rolling stock industry, and integrates the key activities of network planning, operator management, industry engagement and rolling stock procurement.About the OpportunityThis role is responsible for the successful delivery of the assigned mechanical systems for the complex XT2.0 Project to ensure the project outcomes achieve the XT2.0 Project's safety, operational, customer and commercial objectives.The ideal candidate will demonstrateExperience with technical standards and constraints of the existing Victorian rolling stock types and networksKnowledge and experience in application of systems thinking, system and user-centred design principles in an engineering environmentExperience and ability to identify and manage technical and safety risks and issues (SFAIRP)High standard of interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholdersStrong ability to problem solve, communicate and report authoritatively on complex technical issues to non-expert audiencesA mechanical engineering degree qualification (or equivalent)Technical expertise and experience in;the discipline of rolling stock engineering /mechanical systems (such as body structures, bogies, doors, HVAC, gangways and couplers, vehicle system and brakes) /user facing systems (such as drivers cabs, passenger saloon, accessibility (DSAPT), noise)More information is available in the attached Position Description.
