The Department of Premier and Cabinet is leading a Whole of Victorian Government digital reform program that will transform the way the Victorian Public operates and engages with the community.

Digital is a new government agency that will streamline and accelerate digital transformation in Victoria.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and proactive Lead Data Scientist.

This role is a leadership role that sits within the Business Insights team. The team is structured into cross-disciplinary squads with members from Data Science, Strategy and Analytics who work together to research, design, build and own end-to-end machine learning based services and intelligence solutions that deliver direct value to our users.

As a Lead Data Scientist you will:
be an essential part of a diverse cross-functional team of experienced research and intelligence professionals
research, design and build pragmatic, scalable, and statistically rigorous solutions to policy problems 
have the opportunity to shape the future of AI within the branch
use your expertise to leverage data, develop and distribute best practices, and proactively drive innovation.
About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:
experience developing best practice AI or analytics strategy
high level skills in the application of data or statistical analysis, with mathematical and causal modelling
experience being accountable for managing the development and implementation of data pipelines, automated solutions to support business outcomes
ability to align technology to solve business problems
excellent written (across varied documents) and verbal communication skills, including experience in giving public presentations
advanced scientific computing and analysis with NumPy/SciPy.
