Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure, and communications.                    
                    
About the Role At MRM, we’re looking for a Senior Drill&Blast Engineer to join our Technical Services Team. This role will report into the Superintendent of Technical Services and be responsible for will ensure the blasting process is well planned, technically sound and cost effective by using local knowledge/history and best practice to optimise fragmentation. Overall, this role will see you managing technical blasting projects to deliver value for the MRM operation.Duties include (however not limited to): Assuring the quality of drill, charging and tie-in designs are of a high standard. Optimise the fragmentation and dig ability of material at the same time as ensuring ore dilution is minimised. Post blast assessments and analysis on fragmentation, dig ability and pit design conformance.Conducting field interactions which improve safety, efficiency and understanding of operations. Effective communication of D&B plans and areas of technical focus. Direct guidance and oversight of D&B  activities, timeliness and quality of output. Create continuous improvement plans to address negative trends on D&B KPI. Identify and drive the implementation of business improvement initiatives. Liaising closely with Senior Technical Services personnel, Drill&Blast leaders and key production contacts. Contribute to the mine scheduling process by identifying production constraints and opportunities. Provide technical input parameters into the weekly, short term planning process (blast master) and Estimate processes, providing recommendations relating to sequencing while optimising production efficienciesReview drill and blast performance physicals and data for accuracy and integrity. About You Degree in Mining Engineering (or similar), Strong skills in Vulcan and Microsoft Office, Previous experience in a similar leadership position Senior First Aid and SSAN Clearance or equivalence (highly desirable)Hold yourself to the highest standards of safety, with a strong commitment to zero harm policies. A willingness to challenge the norm, deliver as a team and embrace change.
