SKLIROS PRODUCE PTY. LTD is hiring for the Leading Farmhand position. About this Role: We are hiring someone who can assist in the production, harvesting and packaging of fruit and vegetable crops. Job Responsibilities:                  
                      
  • Assist in growing crops in the farm.
    •                   
Job Description:                  
                        
  • Patrolling farm and inspecting and reporting on the condition of crops
    •                     
  • planting trees, seeds, seedlings using hand tools and farm machines
    •                     
  • undertaking soil preparation, cultivation and plant and crop maintenance duties such as tilling, pruning, fertilising, weeding and thinning plants
    •                     
  • spraying farm with pesticides and herbicides to control weed growth, insects, fungus growth and diseases
    •                     
  • installing, operating and maintain water and irrigation systems for crop growth
    •                     
  • erecting growing supports such as trellises, and protective structures such as greenhouses, netting and fences
    •                     
  • selecting and picking fruit, nuts, grains, vegetables and mushrooms according to set requirements, and discarding rotting and overripened produce
    •                     
  • grading and packing produce and loading it into transporters
    •                     
  • maintaining and cleaning farming infrastructure and equipment such as sheds, fences, plant, cool rooms and water supply and irrigation systems
    •                     
  • operating and maintaining general farm machinery and machinery such as tractors and harvest aids to cultivate, fertilise, spray and harvest and pack horticultural produce 
    •                   
Skills and Experience:                  
                        
  • Enjoy practical work
    •                     
  • Able to cope with the physical demands of the job
    •                     
  • Able to undertake manual and heavy work
    •                     
  • Enjoy working outdoors
    •                     
  • Able to work for long hours and in all kinds of weather conditions
    •                     
  • Able to work both in a team and with limited social contact
    •                   
Salary: $48,000.00 to $58,000.00 per annum Free accommodation provided Job Type: Full-Time Job Location: Darwin Summary of role requirements:
