A strong values-based Company whereby Growth, Prosperity and Community guide the actions of its people, their deep-water harbour, landholdings, and proximity to Asia ensure it is 's premier multi-commodity port and the gateway for trade, , and prosperity.About the role Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Legal Counsel will ensure Gladstone Ports Corporation are conducted within the limits prescribed by law and that the organisation's rights are fully protected through the provision of sound governance, legal counsel, and guidance. Responsible for providing legal advice and support to Gladstone Ports Corporation on a range of litigation matters, including Class Actions you will handle all court-based disputes, prepare, and manage cases and have a deep understanding of the requirements and procedures of the various courts. The Senior Legal Counsel will also be an expert at preparing legal documents, such as complaints and defences, and negotiating with the other parties.In addition, you will be expected to develop and implement best practices and procedures for managing litigation matters, and to provide proactive legal advice to the corporation to prevent future legal disputes. You will also stay up to date on legal and regulatory developments in relevant areas of law and will monitor legal developments to provide proactive advice to the corporation.About the person Appropriately qualified, you will have significant experience as a senior practicing lawyer, with a focus on litigation and class actions in Australia and a deep understanding of compliance and litigation-related issues.
