About the Position Director First Nations Climate and Water Security Department of Regional Development Manufacturing and Water Government - State (Government & Defence) The Strategic Water Initiatives Branch is a high energy group of people committed to developing future directions on urban water management, First Nations water interests, climate risk management and supporting the implementation of priority water related projects and initiatives. An exciting opportunity is available for a Director to lead one of the teams - the First Nations, Climate and Water Security team. This is a new team that will have an opportunity to drive improved outcomes for First Nations people, develop our strategic response to the impacts of climate change and lead development of sustainable water security strategy with the water sector. This team will also lead 's input into National Water Reform. Key Duties and Accountabilities • Lead a team in the development of strategic policy and program proposals outlining options for: delivering outcomes for First Nations people; identifying, communicating and developing a coordinated approach to managing climate change impacts and risks to water resources; driving sustainable water security across the water industry; and leading input into National Water Reform. • Prepare high quality policy papers, briefs, reports, including cabinet submissions and other significant policy and project management papers on departmental priorities and strategic initiatives. • Develop and maintain productive partnerships with a complex range of stakeholders to ensure successful negotiation on strategic policy and initiatives. • Represent the department at a senior level as required, including on interdepartmental and intergovernmental meetings and associated management committees. • Provide strategic expert advice to the Executive Director, Strategic Water Initiatives, Deputy Director-General, Water Resource Management, Director-General and Minister on a range of departmental and whole-of-government strategic initiatives. • Lead a high performing and financially sustainable workforce that demonstrates the values of the Public and the principles of the department. • Ensure a culture of service delivery and high performance that recognises the unique contribution of each person, encourages personal and team development, and encourages an appropriate work/life balance. • Contribute to divisional business planning and resource prioritisation processes. • Other duties as directed and required Applications to remain current for 12 months.
