Join our Geotechnical team based at our Melbourne office during an exciting period of transformation. Reporting to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, the role provides internal geotechnical support for Newcrest's current operations and studies into the design of future block cave projects to support Newcrest's growth strategy both locally and internationally.

Who we're looking for The major focus of this of this role is to provide internal geotechnical support for growth studies into the design of future underground mining projects, particularly associated with block caving. You will be responsible for geotechnical activities that are associated with developing studies to support underground mining projects at both green and brownfield mine sites.

You'll be providing expert geotechnical analysis on caving and in particular rock mass, caving propagation and fragmentation assessments, cave design, cave monitoring, ground support design and developing study documentation.

Site operations experience is highly advantageous as is exposure to block and/or sub-level caving operations.

Our preferred candidate will be tertiary qualified in Geotechnical with experience working in an underground hard rock mining environment. Sub-level caving experience will be considered however our preference is exposure to and an understanding of block caving. You will be a strong communicator capable of delivering significant and complex projects whilst leading and motivating team performance and providing professional guidance to junior staff.

Furthermore, you will also have: Experience in leading and running geotechnical site investigation programs Development of geotechnical ground models Experience in the design and analysis of static and dynamic ground support systems Experience in the design of ground monitoring systems, their installation and analysis of their outputsExperience in relevant mining engineering software packages such as Acquire database, Rocscience tools, ITASCA tools, Mine Design tools Demonstrated ability to manage clients and stakeholders
