We combine innovative data with state-of-the-art tools from economics, data science, econometrics, and machine learning to answer economic and social science questions through our research projects.                      The e61 Institute is currently recruiting for a Senior Research Economist in Sydney or .                      For more information about the Institute, please visit                       ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES                      Duties                      
                          
  • Produce high-quality and policy-relevant economic research using micro-level data
  •                       
  • Share empirical findings through presentations, high-quality research papers and non-technical articles
  •                       
  • Influence the policy debate by working on big economic and social challenges facing  using detailed household-level and firm-level datasets
  •                       
  • Work closely with world-class researchers
  •                       
  • Demonstrate leadership by advising a dynamic team of researchers
  •                       
  • Produce high-quality research papers, journal articles, research notes and opinion editorials
  •                       
                      SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                      
                          
  • Minimum four years’ work experience in public policy, industry, or academia.
  •                       
  • Minimum honours degree (or equivalent) in economics, econometrics, or finance (or related fields). Postgraduate training is looked upon favourably.
  •                       
  • Experience in applied microdata research
  •                       
  • Ability to use programming languages such as R, STATA or Python. Experience in other programming languages is advantageous but not essential.
  •                       
  • Strong communication skills
