Located in Sydney's upper north shore, this special needs school caters for students in primary and secondary with a range of disabilities including mild to severe intellectual disability, autism and sensory impairments. Your new role
In this role you will be responsible for teaching a primary stage class, working with a team of 2 aides in a collaborative and team-based approach. Class sizes reflect the needs of your students, generally sitting around the 8 - 10 number. You and your team are responsible for the emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of your students and of course their educational development. You will be supported by allied health professionals including speech, OT, psychologist and behaviour specialists. The school implements a positive behaviour management approach where behaviour is seen as a communication of students needs and challenges. This is an ongoing permanent full-time appointment.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will:                    
                          
  • A NESA registered teacher with appropriate qualifications in primary teaching
  •                       
  • Have a good understanding of meeting the needs of students with a range of special needs from mild to severe.
  •                       
  • Be passionate about championing opportunity and achievement for students with special needs and disabilities.
  •                       
  • Enjoy a team based, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills, compassion and understanding for both students, families and colleagues.
  •                       
  • Instil the schools' catholic values in your students.
  •                     
                    
Applicants must hold or be eligible for NESA registration and WWCC to be eligible for this position.
