ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, , and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in  and .ABOUT THE ROLE This position is based at the St Vincent’s/Mater Clinical School and reports to the Head of Clinical School, and through them to the Deputy National Head of School of Medicine, Sydney Campus. This position will work in collaboration with academic and professional administrative colleagues, including Head and Associate Head of St Vincent’s/Mater Clinical School, Clinical Discipline Leaders, Clinical Placements Coordinator, Medical Education Unit to provide effective and efficient support for the St Vincent’s/Mater Clinical School.The successful applicant will be required to: Promote the School to key stakeholders within St Vincent’s/Mater Clinical School in consultation with the Head of School and Deputy National Head of School. This will involve undertaking meetings with individual doctors, organisations and agencies to inform them of the school and its mission.Take responsibility for student placements in Surgery in collaboration with the Head of School and Head of Student Matters/Clinical Years Develop student timetables and rotations for students in Surgery, ensuring students participate in a range of educationally appropriate and relevant clinical activities.Conduct a weekly teaching ward round or equivalent with the students undertaking their Surgery rotation. Conduct weekly formative assessments, including provision of feedback on student performance. Assist in the setting, marking and examining of summative assessments in Surgery. Be a member of, and contribute to, appropriate clinical school committees as directed by the Deputy National Head of SchoolParticipate in research to progress knowledge in your area of discipline expertise. Participate in medical practice and medical program review to advance the practice of medicine. ABOUT YOU A doctoral degree or equivalent accreditation and standing appropriate to the relevant discipline area. Recognised as a leading authority in the relevant discipline area, through creative or technical achievements or other avenues.Significant experience in tertiary education or the equivalent industry experience in the relevant discipline area. A demonstrated ability to develop teaching resources and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including the effective use of online learning management systems. The ability to provide high quality teaching in a university setting.Demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated leadership skills including ability to foster high levels of collegiality and ability to empathise with students.
