                    Full time research and teaching role located at Camperdown Campus, School of Medical Sciences                    
                    
Level B or C depending on experience and higher degree qualifications                    
                    
Base Salary from $113,184 (Level B) or $138,645 (Level C) pro-rata + 17% superannuation + additional clinical loading

The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas. With over 100 years of excellence in education, the school teaches into a broad range of courses including, medical science, applied science, nursing, physiotherapy, medicine and dentistry.                    
                    
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics to contribute to research and teaching.                    
                    
Your key responsibilities will be to:                    
                    
make independent, original and innovative contributions to research and education which expand knowledge or practice in bioinformatics                    
                    
work independently or collaboratively with laboratory-based researchers and clinician researchers to produce high quality research outputs                    
                    
develop and apply for relevant external funding, and supervise and mentor other academic staff and postgraduate students                    
                    
develop, revise, coordinate, deliver and assess teaching components of relevant units of study related to bioinformatics and biomedical informatics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels                    
                    
ensure effective and timely delivery of teaching and learning activities, and maintain excellent teaching performance                    
                    
About you

have a PhD or equivalent in an academic field relevant to the discipline                    
                    
be acknowledged at a national or international level as influential in contributions to knowledge in bioinformatics and omics research                    
                    
have experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings                    
                    
have demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with laboratory-based academics and clinical researchers on bioinformatics and omics research projects                    
                    
have an established network of relationships with key academic, industry, or professional stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the School, Faculty, and University                    
                    
have experience in leading programs of research and supervising or mentoring other academic staff and postgraduate students                    
                    
In addition to the above, the Senior Lecturer will:                    
                    
be acknowledged at an international level as influential in contributions to knowledge in bioinformatics internationally                    
                    
have demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives in higher education                    
                    
have made outstanding contributions to the leadership of research and teaching activities of an organisational unit or interdisciplinary area                    
                    
have evidence of successful co-ordination of programs of research and leading externally funded programs of research                    
                    
have experience in leading programs of research with external funding, and supervising or mentoring other academic staff and postgraduate students                    
                    
have made an outstanding contribution to governance and collegial life in the Faculty and University, and in a professional capacity outside the University
