supports the development and implementation of the University's strategy and vision for teaching and learning and students' educational experience. The portfolio contributes to institution-wide developments aimed at improving student learning, including the University's approach to curriculum renewal, new thinking in pedagogy, learning and teaching analytics, eLearning and quality assurance for learning and teaching. Its primary functions include professional learning and support for educational excellence and innovation; academic enrichment through curricular and co-curricular programs; and strategic, policy, analytics and administrative support in implementing and monitoring the University's vision for learning and teaching.                    
                    
In 2014, the University began a process of redesigning its curriculum, focusing first on its undergraduate degrees This aimed to extend our graduates abilities beyond just mastery of distinct disciplines so that they have the capabilities, defined in a shared set of graduate qualities, to continually extend their expertise and use it 'for good' The curriculum framework that accompanied this sought to define the kinds of educational experiences and approaches to achieve this. The University now wishes to build upon this work to bring consistency to curriculum design and management and to develop quality indicators to inform sustainability decisions.                    
                    
In line with its                    
                    
2032 Strategic Plan , The University of Sydney wishes to make major improvements to the way it designs, manages and analyses its curriculum and, as such, we are seeking to appoint two Professorial (Level E) Academic Directors for a five-year fixed term appointment within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Education.                    
                    
One position will focus on program design, structures, processes and regulations and the other position will be the academic lead for the procurement and installation of a curriculum management system. Both Academic Directors will partner closely together. This position will require extensive curriculum knowledge and an ability to influence academic and professional units across the University in order to drive a quality agenda. This position will report directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and will be supported by a senior professional lead It will also have a dotted report line to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Educational Innovation.                    
                    
About you (skills, capabilities and experience)                    
                    
You will have a Doctorate or PhD in a relevant field of study as well as have comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of effective educational practice in higher education, including the use of educational technologies in higher education. You will also demonstrate capacity for collaboration and effective contribution as a senior team member and demonstrate capacity for leadership of educational innovation and educational quality improvement in a complex higher education setting. You will have the capacity to keep abreast of emerging trends and supporting evidence and provide institutional leadership for strategic change in educational practice and use of relevant digital technologies and be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, including in the use of educational technologies. Finally, you must have extensive experience in senior leadership and management in a University environment as well as significant experience in the development and delivery of strategic plans, including the ability to develop internal processes and manage complex change.                    
                    
Working together with the Academic Director (Design, Structures and Processes) the successful applicant will be expected to:                    
                    
Develop a set of design principles that provide the University of Sydney with a consistent, clear and transparent program architecture                    
                    
Refine our suite of management dashboards that assess the sustainability, quality and performance of courses, plans and programs                    
                    
Design and implement a universal reporting mechanism that takes a data driven approach to inform faculty-led review of offerings                    
                    
Working with Faculities and Schools to consolidate program rules into policies and procedures, streamline processes, reduce duplication and improve transparency and curriculum navigation for students and staff                    
                    
Deliver an IT solution to support the design, governance, publication and review processes for the University's courses and programs as well as the codification of course and program requirements and the automation of related student and administrative processes                    
                    
Term and remuneration                    
                    
This full-time position will be offered on a fixed-term basis for 5 years, with the possibility for renewal, and is subject to completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.                    
                    
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
