About the Position Architects (Information & Communication Technology) • Government - Federal (Government & Defence) Full time $111,215 to $132,517 plus 15.4% superannuation Comcare is looking to invest in its data architecture capability in recognition of the critical role it plays in maximising the value of data and enabling strong governance in a modernising technology environment. The Data Architect role is a high priority for Comcare and is offered a high degree of autonomy and exposure as well as strong senior engagement. We are a work health and safety regulator, a scheme manager, a claims manager and an insurer. We also have essential enabling roles, focused on the capability and capacity of our own workforce and on supporting engagement and better practice approaches to health and safety across our scheme. We deliver functions specified in: the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) the Asbestos-related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) Act 2005 (ARC Act) the Parliamentary Injury Compensation Scheme (PICS) established under the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017. The Chief Data Office (CDO) team is part of the Scheme Management Group and is responsible for ensuring that Comcare takes a mature and sophisticated approach to the management and use of data. To achieve that, the Chief Data Office works across Comcare to: Deliver better insights through new platforms and capability uplift. Ensure data architecture and data models cater for versatile reporting and analytics needs. Delineate impacts within our data environment to facilitate a better understanding and implementation of effective controls. Create a framework that helps people understand their responsibilities when it comes to data. Embed continuous improvement in process and quality of data captures. Ensure consistency in the description of common data terms. Ensure data is leveraged effectively to solve business problems. Enable data capability gaps to be identified and addressed across Comcare so that Groups can be more self-sufficient in working with data. Overview of the role Under the broad direction of the Chief Data Officer, the Data Architect oversees Comcare's data architecture including through the review of the current state data architecture and defining a target state data architecture which will support organisational data maturity uplift. The Data Architect maintains visibility of Comcare's data assets, develops documentation to illustrate this, maps how data flows through our systems and provides a blueprint for managing data. The goal of the Data Architect is to ensure that data is managed appropriately and meets business needs for information. Comcare recognises that a well-designed data architecture is a crucial enabler to achieving organisational objectives. The Data Architect is responsible for developing and maintaining a dedicated library of data artefacts to enable effective data governance and assists the development of internal standards to promote data quality. This enables the successful execution of data and broader organisational initiatives. Mandatory Experience Substantial experience developing reference data architecture, principles and standards. Expertise with a wide range of cloud-based data technologies and tools, including an in-depth understanding of database structure principles. Substantial experience in data warehousing, data and entity relationship modelling, data quality, gathering and analysing system requirements.
