The iconic South Melbourne Markets located within the City of Port Phillip have partnered with Hays Recruitment to offer an exciting strategic position, Head of Asset Development (Renewal) & Operations, within the Asset & Operations team. Overseeing the delivery of the Market's capital building project portfolio, asset management and maintenance plans, and operational policies, this unique position will work closely with the Executive Director and play a key role in overseeing current asset management and operational procedures in addition to implementing strategic developments and plans to ensure the ongoing systematic safety and compliance requirements of the Market are met. Your new role
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for: Overseeing the delivery of the Market's Capital building project portfolio with the assistance of Council Developing the annual asset renewal and maintenance plan Managing the annual Capital and Operations budgets, reporting on Asset and Operational expenditures Developing operational procedures and policies, working closely with stall-holders and contractors Overseeing and leading a team managing day-to-day market operations Procurement and contract management Collaborating with management and relevant stakeholders to develop strategies and future-proofing methods, ensuring the Market's continued compliance, safety, and operational sustainability is upheld

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will have: Degree qualifications in Business, Asset Management or Facilities Management Demonstrated experience working in a similar operational environment within Facilities Management, Asset Management, or a market/retail space Working knowledge of Government procurement processes (desirable) Excellent financial acumen with the ability to develop, implement and monitor annual budgets Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the capability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders and personalities at all levels The ability and willingness to function at a strategic level in addition to taking a hands-on, customer-centric approach A charismatic and collaborative approach to leadership and management, with the ability to motivate others
