The University of New England (UNE), Armidale is a regionally based, globally networked university that is renowned for the quality of its student experience and the excellence of its research specialisations. Your new role
This role is aligned with a range of projects across the cognate disciplines of Writing, Media and Communications. The Writing discipline delivers units that support majors in the Bachelor of Media and Communications (including a Writing and Publishing major) and the Bachelor of Arts. These units include academic, professional and creative writing, as well as editing and publishing. The Writing discipline is seeking to enhance offerings in digital storytelling and writing, in the context of the School's increasing engagement with digital humanities.
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Digital Storytelling and Writing will support research and teaching in both creative storytelling (e.g. fiction writing in digital environments) and also empirical, evidence-based storytelling and narrative (such as that required in History, Historical Musicology, and other disciplines). This role will support future curriculum development that may include updating or replacement of existing offerings, as well as the application of new knowledge and expertise to support curriculum innovation across other existing units. The successful applicant will have experience with high-quality development of digital-first course/unit design and of online and hybrid modes of teaching
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have: A PhD or equivalent experience in writing, story-telling, or a related area The ability to develop and deliver excellent teaching both in person and online A strong research profile with the ability to attract external funding Knowledge and skills in digital story-telling and writing Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
Full selection criteria for Level B and C will be provided upon expression of interest.
